A Spiritual Test
We are allowed to test the spirits (4151), we don't have to believe every spirit (4151). God wants us to know that what is coming is coming from God because many false words spoken through false motives have gone out into our places of interaction and living (1 Jn 4:1). Thank God there is no fear when we yield to being rooted in love (v18) by embracing love to the point that it drives off our inner hidden fears or attacks that come to make us doubt life can be good and worth it.
4151 is greek word for pneuma... it is the word for breath. We use breath whenever we speak out words.... God said by our words we will be justified, and by our words we will be condemned (Mt 12:37)... we are to test the words that come out of the mouth of people because it will be those very same words that we will allow to influence our decisions and lives. Pneuma is a mental disposition or vital principles.
