Thoughts of the Heart

It isn't just your mind that can think... our heart carries an intent and thought inside of itself as well... back when the LORD was watching mankind He had taken a look at the intent and the thoughts of his heart (V5), and what the LORD had seen had caused grief to enter His own heart (v6 Gn 6)... the LORD was sorry for what He had made; but Noah reminded God how He didn't make a mistake, that it was and will be worth it to have made mankind... and we see how Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (v8).
