(Pro 20:27) The spirit of a man {which is within him (1 Cor 2:11) is the lamp of the LORD (Father God=tetragrammaton=all capitals). God is Spirit (Jn 4). Those that worship Father God must worship Him in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24); so this becomes one reason why we don't fight against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and high spiritual wickedness (Ep 6:12). Take Iran for instance... threatening flesh and blood (Israelis) by supporting nuclear bombing through rebellion {which is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Sam 15:23), while knowing that sanctions represent a form of law... rebels don't obey law, even the Iranian President declared that the sanctions are meaningless... yet without nuclear bombing in the meantime, the principal ruler supports to send hamas rocket after rocket to kill mere flesh and blood, only, spirits don't die. Israeli people are human (man, mankind) and their spirit too is within them (1 Cor 2:11), so to kill their flesh but lack authority to kill their spirit (Lk 12:4) is not comedy, it's deceptive, thinking to be serving God or be doing God some kind of favor... but remember, God is Spirit (Jn 4:24), the Holy Spirit of Truth (Jn 14:17/Eph 1:13)... God of the Living and not God of the dead (Mt 22:32).
