Reflection & Prayer

v1  Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool (Pro 19).

Yom Kippur - Atonement

The celebration actually started last night before the sun went down, and prayers were said in the synagogues throughout the cities. Jews asked God for absolution on any of the promises that they made and failed to deliver on.  Being true to your word is the most important part of Yom Kippur.   (Article)

It would be so nice to be able to take people at their word again~  If you say you are going to do it, just do it.  My dad used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."  Well actually... mom used to say it, but mostly grandma.  And i agree with this in things that we don't need to do like coarse jesting; belittling each other at school, trying to be cool and funny when really, you are acting like an idiot at someone else's expense, which isn't really that funny when you think about it.  There are ways to have fun without having to tear each other down to get there...
