v27 And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days; afterward I arose and went about the king's business. I was astonished by the vision, but no one understood it.
*Daniel had been shown some end time antichrist stuff by angel Gabriel; stuff about Iran and Iraq, some bad news for Greece... what a mess!
Daniel engaged prayer to intercede on behalf of his country by admitting infiltrated disrespect and sin committed against God. Daniel admitted to the Lord that He is righteous but that we deserve shame of face (7). Daniel asked for forgiveness for sins and rebellion, realizing that the lack of repentance and lack of understanding Truth had brought this disaster upon them. Daniel took responsibility for corporate wickedness by confessing, "...we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! Listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake..."
Daniel had an angelic encounter with Gabriel and was told by Gabriel that he had come to give Daniel skill to understand (9:22) because at the beginning of Daniel's prayer the command went out (to answer Daniel's supplication). The Lord was answering his prayer and using an angel who looked like a man to do it~
