An Inside Job

Due to Daniel's God-given ability to interpret dreams, the king promoted Daniel to Chief Administrator over all the wise men of Babylon (Dan 2:48), with special thanks to God for Proverbs 18:16 because a man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

And what training ground it became before being promoted first to Chief Administrator then to Governor (Dan 6:2) since Babylon considered soothsayers, astrologers, and magicians to be their wise men (1:20/2:2-3, 9-10, 12), so it's not like Daniel was sitting over a bunch of Church people. Yet Daniel didn't use the opportunity to destroy any persons operating in a spirit other than the Holy Spirit whom the king came to realize was at work in Daniel (4:8-9), realizing also that the Holy Spirit is why Daniel could interpret his dream (2:28, 45) and why the other magicians could not (2:10, 27, 47).  Daniel petitioned the king for the lives of the Babylonian wise men to be saved (2:24), which shown him as having excellent character, viable compassion, and being a man who stood unintimidated by surrounding differences or incompatible circumstance.
