v32  But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.

Interesting, the prayer was that Simon Peter's faith would not fail.  But obviously it did fall short at some point  because why else would Jesus say, 'when you have returned to Me..."?  Well the only way to return is because you first left and that to me means you lost faith somewhere along the line... so the way Jesus looks at failure isn't failure by the way we typically judge failure... meaning that, Jesus didn't look at failure as being Peter who got his butt kicked by satan when he denied Jesus 3 times (v34), for by the way, satan already asked to sift Peter as wheat in verse 31, so we see Jesus is not unrealistic in that He knew Simon Peter in his own strength would not win against satan, but just because satan was permitted by Father God to show up in Peter's life and sift him like wheat, which produced emotional damage as it sought to steal spiritual wholeness by seeking to separate Peter from Christ, Jesus knew that on the night He prayed and asked Father God who was to be in His inner circle and how Father God led Jesus to the 12 men, Jesus knew nothing, absolutely nothing would pluck Peter out of His hand, so it didn't really matter what satan wanted to do in between points A to Z... Jesus trusted Father and knew if Father allowed it then Jesus knew Peter would still have to return to Him, period Amen!  Jesus knew Father was and is not double minded.  And isn't it cool how intercession went ahead of Simon Peter's denial to protect him... God still wants us to ask, no matter how much we know.  God still wants us to declare a positive, more sure future in spite of the fact that satan is still asking to sift people like wheat... And isn't it good to know, that we will return to strengthen those other brothers/sisters that will be going through their own sifting, knowing that we will be strengthening them, knowing that Jesus is still in control, knowing that Father has the Victory, and that no devil in hell can stop it!  And that my friend, is all you need to know right now.
