Peace Temple
Blue v1-11 Ch 11 Markv9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!'
Jesus was getting ready to ride into Jerusalem where also He would go into the temple (v11). What's amazing is how these disciples had to trust Jesus by using childlike faith to obey. Would you feel comfortable going into another town only to take something that didn't belong to you? Then being questioned as to why you are doing this when you don't have any reason other than because the Lord said so. And what if they don't care about what the LORD said? Since you don't know if they serve God or not? So how comfortable are they going to make you feel once to learn you are not even from this town or own a home here? Then to see you carting off an animal they knew clearly had been there all day so couldn't possibly belong to you! Hmm, would play with my mind a little bit right before i obeyed the LORD.
Modern thinking would argue, "You want me to do what? Go into that town and there's just supposed to be some donkey there? And i'm just supposed to take it? Then tell whoever after being asked that You sent me? And i'm not going to go to jail for stealing? Or need to run from some crazy person that wants to chase me while i'm running off with his animal as fast as i can? Telling the "whoever" behind me some flaky Christian thing like, "God told me to do it?" Are you serious Jesus?! I thought Your yoke was easy and Your burden was light, and i thought that going to heaven wasn't about works, right?" Then right about the time some Holy Spirit conviction makes it's way to me, the new argument begins, "Why am i afraid to do what Jesus is asking?" Seeing clearly how the prideful excuses are hoping just to get out of it. Then a few memory reminders flash a few other times when it didn't work out so well for me after a similiar mind game. It begins to dawn on me that obedience cannot possibly be all that bad. For truly, the disciples merely did what Jesus said to do and it worked out just fine, the burden was easy, the yoke was light... all they had to do was listen to the instructions Jesus had given, no adding, no taking away~
