Tomb Runner

 Blue  v1-20  Ch 5 Mark

v2...immediately out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit met Jesus (who just got off the boat).  The guy was crazy strong, untamable, could easily break off shackles and chains (v4).  Insane in his mind, crying out and cutting himself, using stones to do it (v5).  But even though he was demon-possessed (v12, 16), when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped Him (v6).
[Interesting!]  He even knew Jesus is Son of the Most High God (v7) and implored Him by God not to be tormented.  Jesus then addressed the unclean spirit when he said to the man, "Come out of the man, unclean spirit!" v8  But rebellion doesn't obey so darkness didn't obey Jesus right after Jesus said this.  Jesus asked the guy his name but the demon answers for the guy instead saying, "My name is Legion; for we are many. (v9)".  These demons were begging Jesus not to be sent out of the country (v10) {probably because every spirit operates in a known level and territory so to operate in another's territory will backfire somehow}.  So after some more begging, the demons finally got permission from Jesus to enter the pigs where the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea (v13), and drowned.  So the story spreads out in the country and in the city (v14).  Then the tourist attraction was formed as people went out to see what was going on (v14) and they came to Jesus, also seeing the guy who Had Been demon-possessed, sitting there, clothed, and in his right mind (v15).  This scared the people for some reason, although it should have been a huge blessing to them, so they asked Jesus to leave (v17).  Jesus' new friend wanted to go with Jesus, and who could blame him, but Jesus wouldn't permit it because Jesus wanted him to stay there to share his testimony of what the Lord had done for him, how he had received tremendous compassion (v19).  And the guy obeyed (v20).  He obeyed well!
