One of those days~

Blue  v12-19  Ch 20  2 Kgs

Babylonian King Baladan had a son named Merodach-Baladan who heard of King Hezekiah's illness so he sent messengers with gifts to Hezekiah who then gave these messengers a tour of everything he had in his storehouses, but it ended up being a mistake because after the prophet Isaiah asked Hezekiah, "What did they see in your palace?"  The Word of the LORD soon came, which proved this to be Hezekiah's mistake because now everything in the palace would be carried off to Babylon, even some of Hezekiah's own descendants who would become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Ever been confronted by a story but felt that since it didn't directly apply to you or directly affect you, that you didn't really care?  I've had thoughts like these before after being sick of dealing with something or am overwhelmed by the problem and have enough problems of my own anyway so why bother?  Things like the ozone layer.  Sure i care but i don't stop using hair spray or driving a car because i feel it won't do the damage in my lifetime so who cares!  Sounds sick doesn't it... but if i be honest, i do care but not enough to change, not unless everybody wants to do it with me.  Let's all stop styling our hair and start walking everywhere we need to go!  But i know that's not going to happen so why bother~

Well, selfish Hezekiah had the same problem.  While Isaiah stood telling him about the punishment, Hezekiah replied by saying that the Word of the LORD was good, but had also been thinking inside himself that it didn't directly affect him for, "Will there not be peace and security in my lifetime?"  Hezekiah didn't care that everything he showed would be carted off, as long as it wasn't carted off while he still needed to enjoy it; even though what was scheduled to happen was caused by something he did, but he just didn't care.  It's hard to change something if you don't care about it.  Everything that changes is because someone cares about it, including your salvation.  Ask Jesus~
