The Plans

v2-37  Ch 9  2 Kgs

v2  go to Jehu
v2  get him away from his companions
v3  pour the oil on his head
v3  declare what the LORD says, "I anoint you king over Israel"
v3  then open the door and run

Interesting how these companions thought the "summoned" (v11) prophet was a "madman" (v11) and how Jehu is seeking to be modest by trying to downplay what the prophet said, "You know the man and the sort of things he says (v11)".  But they didn't know (v12).  "Tell us."  So Jehu told them and the companions believed the madman by supporting Jehu's call (v13), "Jehu is king!"  Even though Jehu himself had a reputation for driving like a madman (v20); he was pretty good with his bow (v24) and didn't have any problem seeing to it that Jezebel paid her dues (v32-37) for although Jehu wasn't the best leader... Jehu wasn't the worst.  Jehu helped by yielding to his call while the LORD pulled down some mighty strongholds~
