 Blue v10-23  Ch 22  1 Kgs

v10-4  The 400 prophets are telling Ahab to go into battle but since Jehoshaphat wanted to hear what a prophet of the LORD had to say about it before he joined Ahab in battle, Ahab had one of his messengers summon Micaiah who was now being informed of what the other prophets were saying; how they all agreed and how Micaiah should let his word agree with theirs so that they could continue to flow as one man but Micaiah said he could only tell what the LORD gives him.

~Amazing how this messenger didn't show that he cared about Truth when he asked Micaiah to give a word and then proceeded to tell him what that word should be...

~You can see Micaiah's servant side coming out when he actually does what that messenger wanted, even after just telling him that he could only say what the LORD told him to say.  Micaiah was walking in love (loves always believes; he was believing in the unity the messenger spoke of) and the irony of this is once Micaiah told Ahab what the messenger wanted to hear, Ahab didn't believe him so accused Micaiah of lying (v16).  Whether Micaiah told a lie or the truth, it didn't matter because Ahab chose to see Micaiah as a liar no matter what.  Micaiah then gives the real and true Word of God which wasn't a word of success but he did however see that the LORD was on His throne with the host of heaven on the right and left sides where there Micaiah heard the LORD set Ahab's fate...

Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there? v20

v21 Finally a spirit came forward and agreed to entice Ahab.

v22 "By what means?"  The LORD asked.  (God knows the answer but is very relational)

v22  "I'll go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets (1:400=WoW!)".

v22  "You will succeed... go and do it."  Said the LORD.

Don't know that anything actually happens without the LORD's consent because in Sovereignty He alone qualifies to Uphold, to Be, to Maintain and Administer Truth.  God doesn't cause bad things to happen just because He is responsible for administering consequences, it is still our sin causing Truth to release consequences, yet what is neat in this story is the relational way the LORD did it.  The LORD didn't become an island unto Himself...  He asked the hosts before Him who wanted to entice Ahab?  Then after a few spirits came up with a few ideas while the LORD sat listening, this one other spirit offered to do it but was asked how?  After the LORD heard the spirit's intended method, the LORD verbally, He conversationally, granted the success because the LORD knew this would indeed work, for it would fulfill some plans that were already appointed over Ahab's life through previous choices he had made.
