Blue Ch 21 1 Kgsv3 Naboth replied, " The LORD forbid that i should give you the inheritance of my fathers."
v4 Ahab went home sad & mad because Naboth wouldn't give him his vineyard (v2).
Jezebel did not care that Naboth feared the LORD.
Jezebel did not care that it was passed down the family line and that this family heirloom was important to him.
v7 I'll get you the vineyard (said Jezebel). I'll write letters and sign your name to them (forgery). v8-10 I'll send them to the elders and nobles and tell them to be an accomplice first to a lie then to murder even though the community is expecting you to be respectible, responsible, to serve fairly, and put value on human life.
The accusation that got Naboth stoned said that he had cursed God and the king (v13). This in turn caused the people to sin because they stoned an innocent man all under the pretense of a lie but because that lie was backed by 2 (lying) witnesses it was believed because Deut 17:6 says whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses yet it all began with Ahab's angry/feel sorry for himself spirit that became strengthened through the fruit of his wife's lie so now they will be repaid for their evil while Naboth whom they thought they destroyed is now taking refuge with Jesus in heaven, getting ready to lay the reward of his martyr's crown down at the feet of Jesus.
