In The City

Tower Grove Park, St. Louis, MO, USA
In 1868 Henry Shaw gave the park to the
citizens of STL; he had over 8,000 trees
and shrubs imported from around the world.

Henry Shaw was one of the park commissioners at the time this report was written, the report is taken off the website..  "A park," according to that report, "is not created for the benefit of any particular class, but for the enjoyment of all classes -- for the use of the city population in the aggregate... The rich, the poor, the educated and the illiterate have an equal title to the fair domain of shade and sward, of pleasant walks and landscapes all that is required of any of them being a due regard to the character of the place and the rights of each visitor... and the taxpayer has no pre-emptive right in any of its features over the man who never owned anything to pay taxes upon. Its broad and level drives are made for the costly chariot flashing with silver and polish, and also for the humble wagon with its painted sign indicating its daily use. There are also quiet, shady walks, specially intended for those who can command no vehicle but the street car." (1883)

v28  ...the Arameans (Syrians) think the LORD is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys, the LORD will deliver this vast army...and you will know that the LORD is LORD.

Mike and i went for a 3-4 mile bike ride around Tower Grove Park before we rode our bikes over to the coffee shop at the corner of Grand & Arsenal for ice cream coffee.  Very different atmosphere at the c-shop.  Felt a mix of hippie, paganism, homosexuality, intellectualism, and the ice cream coffee was tasty!  Mike ordered me the praline-n-cream mix.  It sort of defeated the exercise we embraced moments before so thought about taking another ride to make up for it but just knew that it's ok to relax once in awhile.  After we rode home, Mike took Chocolate (the neighbor's dog) for a walk up the alley because i decided to sweep the cob webs off of the garage door but when he took longer than necessary for where he said he was going i got worried so went to look and seen that he was northward meeting a new neighbor so decided then to walk up to meet Richard too so could also relieve Mike from Chocolate in order to take Chocolate back home.  It was a nice ride!  Invited Jesus into the place as we rode around
