Present
Blue v1 Ch 18 1 Kgsv1 ...the Word of the LORD came to Elijah: "Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.
Interesting Word considering at the time Ahab was readily killing off the prophets of the LORD. Elijah knew this but somehow embraced the Word so easily that he went to prepare himself without any explanation up to this point as to why or how to do what exactly? God hadn't said. Elijah did not love his life unto death (Rev 12:11) and though he didn't die, death was a real potential threat under even political circumstances. Childlike faith seem to have worked just fine for Elijah, who knew God enough to know that an explanation wouldn't be added until doing the step that was right there before him to do.
Think about it... go prepare yourself and say what? He had no word to give yet but Elijah accepted the order by using unexplained faith or faith that knew God would show up right on time to deal with this presentation that Elijah had no control over since he knew Ahab hated him! But God wants us to obey "the step" and the step simply said to 'go prepare yourself' so i'm sure whatever Elijah did when he got ready for meetings was a practice familar and easy to him so he learned to recognize the steps. Where we get into stress or worry is when we jump the gun and place our obedience on a step that hasn't been given yet but since we know how to use logic we can jump forward in a story but what would and will help us obey like Elijah simply did is to don't add to the Word just because we can imagine through forward thinking... peace is there in the little step that is obeyed and seemingly ridiculous, the one that you could almost stumble over, it is that easy.
