The Point Across

 Blue  v5  Ch 15   1 Kgs

v5  For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not failed to keep any of the LORD's commands all the days of his life - except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

1 Kgs 9:4  Now if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded...

Since we can only give away one part at a time (1 Cor 13:9) when making the point, patience will be keeping the peace while seeking to leave out the inconclusive accusation.  Compare verse 5 and 4.  Black & White thinking clearly speak by using "not any...except."  Truth is kept here because Truth says the adulterer's reproach is never wiped away (Pro 6:33) and it was Uriah's wife that David took over, so in speech Pro 6:33 is upheld.  It is also Truth to forget what is behind (Phil 3:13) by repenting and knowing all of our sins have been blotted out as we remain faithful (Acts 3:19-20), so there are times we will need to leave the mistakes out of the point, knowing when the time to use black and white thinking or when the more merciful and encouraging way of thinking that is an asset too of wisdom (Pro 4:5).  Absent wisdom will inaccurately declare how the bible is full of contradiction when really what is the case is the perishing due to the lack of knowledge because time limits our speech into only making one vital point at a time.  God is Love, but He is the same God that created hell... Are these points opposite?  God loves Truth so much that He won't allow Himself as The Truth to be compromised by unrepented hellish behavior... but more on that point later.  The neighbor told Mike today that the lady who got stabbed the other day was stabbed 17 times and then her throat was cut... Look friend, i'm all for forgiveness but am all for punishing crimes like this, and if God never operated in justice, is it fair to let this slice and dice murderer live next door to you without any system in place to intimidate this wretched hellish behavior...if the rod is for the back of fools, and words won't always teach, then hell is another incentive to change from wicked ways... and should God have to use something so severe to get the point across in that now we actually do change from our wicked ways, then that is mercy.
