v20 The LORD has kept the promise He made:
~Solomon is mentally acute
v20 I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and
~he has healthy self-esteem
~he knows his place
~he's analytical & spiritual
v20 I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
~he recognizes the good motivation of accomplishing goals yet could work on giving others some credit since it was accomplished through many skilled craftsmen; but you can only say one thing at a time so who's to say he didn't already do this in some other sentence at some other place in time...Solomon wasn't afraid to face a situation then just say it like he seen it. Somehow, i guess because he is comfortable with himself and believes he is with God or that God is smiling on him, it doesn't cross your mind to be uncomfortable or accusatory with Solomon for knowing himself and saying what he did. Generally it is insecure people who may accuse Solomon of being prideful for using the word "I" three times in one sentence or taking to what appears to be all the credit for something, but actually Solomon is comfortable with himself and so makes others feel comfortable too. Look how many people came to listen to him.
Many times criticism isn't worth the paper it's written on- if it is, view it as a compliment or at least as some proof of your existence.
