She rolled on her baby while sleeping and the baby died so while the mother was sleeping with her baby she exchanged death for life. When the mother woke up she quickly knew what the other woman had done but the other woman didn't want to accept that her baby was dead. The mother would not accept death when she had life. The story ends up before The King. He quickly revealed the motive... Those grieving in death will seek more death. Those grieving over life will seek more life - thus the mother is revealed, wanting the living to stay alive even in the midst of sacrifice... loving and choosing life even though it hurts like hell.
