v18-19 Chief Abishai was Commander of the Three and as famous, if not more so for his fight ability. v13 Three of the Thirty enlistments were these inner circle fighters who could do serious damage to the enemy.Joab and his brothers were the mercenary of mercenaries; Abishai is Joab's brother and so is Ashael who did also rank high among the top 30 militants. Bathsheba's husband Uriah, believe it or not, listed among these top 30 warriors (v39), yet even with all that skill, if we willing turn back on our own by leaving him alone on the frontlines, it's like giving free pop shots to the enemy.
Uriah stood as a man of character: back when David was scheming, Uriah wouldn't even go home for some pleasure because he wanted to remain respectful to the unity of the men in his unit who were still fighting at war, waiting for his return. Uriah fought for David with faithful valiancy. He didn't have a lot of money only one beautiful wife. It was sad to lose such a good man.
