Ahithophel - known for giving accurate, dependable advice; David
knew it to be so accurate he had to pray asking God
to turn it into foolishness (15:31).
Absalom - king David's son whom God will use to complete the
Word of the LORD to David for the sin he committed
with Bathsheba.
The Word of Judment - This is what the LORD says: 'Out of your
own household I Am going to bring calamity
upon you. Before your very eyes I will take
your wives and give them to one who is
close to you, and he will lie with your wives
in broad daylight, you did it in secret, but I
will do this thing in broad daylight (12:11-12).
Absalom asked for Ahithophel's advice so for political reasons Ahithophel told him to lie with his father's wives (v20-21).
God used Ahithophel's counsel to uphold His Word. A person just walking into David or Absalom's life without first knowing what happened in their history that is now becoming the reason for what is happening in their "Today" will perceive what is going on but will probably come up with another reason for who or why it's happening and will most likely give the devil more credit or power than what is due him, assuming it only to be a satanic attack. Well, true on one hand but it's not because the devil "said so." He wouldn't be allowed to touch David's life, emotions, peace, had God told him not to (Job 1:12). Sometimes we go in praying prematurely rebuking the devil for everything when really it's the case of God's cycle of Truth being upheld; It comes to pass (Gal 6:7). But when we can't get the devil out, perishing really due to the lack of knowledge (Pro 29:18), we get mad at God so blame Him or assume that we're not spiritual or holy & anointed enough so pick on ourselves for not having enough faith to move the mountain (Mt 17:20). None of which is true. (The bible-logos you know is subservient to rhema {Isa 55:11 (1697 dabar = word = as spoken)}.The reason God tells us how to live is because He knows how to Live. He's not punishing us when bad stuff happens, our choice to sin makes that happen, He's just making sure Truth is upheld because He can't be tainted by our stories, He can't change just because sin rises up wanting to pretend like there's no Truth. Life is inTruth.
