~No man can serve 2 masters  Lk 16:13

v9 Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in His eyes?  You struck down Uriah...with the sword (putting him on the frontlines then purposefully pulling back so he was left there alone to be killed).  Then you took his wife to be your own (after seeing her bathing and you couldn't take your eyes off of her (1 Jn 2:16-17) so committed adultery with her then got her pregnant (which thing you didn't plan on happening) but when you didn't want to get exposed either you plotted to have her husband killed (v9) to cover the sin.

 Works both ways~
Now the sword will never depart from your house because you despised Me and took the wife of Uriah to be your own.

*Sin takes us farther than we want to go*

Gal 6:7 God is not mocked; what is sown will be reaped
v9    You brought calamity on Uriah
v11  I Am going to bring calamity on you
v9    You took Uriah's wife
v11  I will take your wives and give them to one close to you
v12  You committed sin in secret
v12  I will do this thing in broad daylight

As prophet Nathan was used to expose sin it had resulted in confession and removal of sin even though David will enter a process of consequence until the cycle of restoration is complete.  Many times in church people have repented for sin and are going through the cycle of purging to where it doesn't feel like God is there or feel like life is very blessed but what it becomes is not the case of still needing to repent as it is the case of embracing sanctification so that what had caused the desire to want to sin is dealt with in a way that will help us to stop yielding to it, which will include inner healing through an abundance of love from God Who will replace our lies with Love as He fills us with His Holy Spirit so that there isn't any need to do those sinful things or the need to get other things the wrong way.

There is a difference between correcting and exposing sin to save someone and accusing to judge sin only to punish the person so as to remove the hope of mercy and restoration for the sake of "justice."  Justice without mercy is not justice (Jms 2:13).  There is a price to pay for sin so don't worry about people getting their just dues; David gets to put up with the sword (fighting) for the rest of his life...  but prophet Nathan was sent by God to correct David because David really belonged to the LORD and could not be left in hidden sin because sin would separate David from the LORD permanently if it wasn't taken through the process of refinement to be purged.

~The LORD corrects all those He Loves (Heb 12:6)

Another reason God warned us about sin is because the LORD knows there are consequences and His desire is to bring Life, even abundant life, so sometimes it must be addressed through preventative measures and messages because we are always praying and asking Him to bless us and one way to get blessed is to stop doing the very thing that ruins the blessing and since God can't bless sin He sent Jesus so Christ could get it out of the way for us and we could enjoy life in truth with Him.
