v36 All the people took note & were pleased; indeed, everything the king did pleased them.
v35 The people just tried to persuade king David to eat but he strongly rejected the idea being fully upset over the way Joab handled his personal issues with Abner and what that could mean for his position but by rejecting comfort food the people understood David held no personal or political ties to the death of Abner (v37).Download | Duration: 00:06:07
v39 David was a militant warrior and now an anointed king but even he felt weak sometimes, like he wasn't strong enough so received deliverance in the LORD Who could and would repay an evildoer according to his evil deeds, and since David couldn't stop Joab from that evil act so that it went forth anyway, David knew to take comfort in the justice side of the LORD so as the responsible person things were still being dealt with and taken care of.
