Israel vs. Judah
2 groups gathered on either side of the pool (v13) with battle on the brain (v17). Commander Abner was over Saul's army and had suggested to Joab to have young men fight hand to hand (v14) so 12 were counted off to fight for Saul's side and another 12 stood up to fight for David's side (v15), putting Israel & Judah against one another although technically each should have been fighting on the same side.Judah (David's men) defeated the men of of Israel (v17).
Fighting For The New Jerusalem12x12=144=NT New Jerusalem (ch 14 Rev)
Sometimes an internal fight arises that resembles the fight for the New Jerusalem where we see a great house with some vessels for honor and some for dishonor (2 Tim 2:20); A world-wide family where within the house 3 have been set against 2 and 2 have been set against 3 (Lk 12:52).
Father God promotes unity because of knowing that a kingdom, city, or house divided will not stand (Mt 12:25). Father allows yet exhorts all kinds of individuality to build on the walls of his world-wide house (1 Cor 3:10) but what can never be altered is (Heb 11:10) the foundation He already laid in Christ Jesus Who cannot be moved (1 Pt 1:19-21).
