v7 David & Abishai went into the enemy's territory where the militants were sleeping around their leader; that's a Gutzie Move because you are hoping they don't wake up since you know you're outnumbered and all their soldiers are skilled fighters. 
v7-8 Abishai wanted to spear Saul who was sleeping with his own spear stuck in the ground near his head.
v9 David however, refuses to lay a hand on the LORD's Anointed! (Remember David's perception of Saul...) David asked, "How can you be held guiltless if you do that?"
