v40 David was used to the staff that helped him nudge the sheep that he had to watch over whenever one tried to cross the safety lines.
v40 David was used to skipping smooth rocks down at the stream so he took along some grace (5 smooth stones 5=grace) from Jesus (The Rock) and put that in his Shephard's pouch so that when he was ready to sling enlightenment at the enemy it would be done through the foundation of Christ (1 Cor 3:11).
Pro 16:18~Pride goes before Goliath's fall~
v43 "Am I a dog that you come at me with sticks?"
He cursed David by his gods.
v44 "Come here and I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and
the beasts of the field!"
Goliath threatened David to intimidate and control, to
scare him by using word curses with aggression.
This stronghold principality of pride (1 Jn 2:16) was set deep within Goliath's mindset yet Jesus is The Rock that destroyed this very principality and power as it was nailed to the cross (Col 2:14-15). David's ROCK struck Goliath in the FOREHEAD and crushed the power of satan that was exalting it's knowledge against the knowledge of Christ (2 Cor 10:5). David did it by the prophetic foreshadow (Col 2:10) of Christ Jesus and he did it by being himself instead of following what everyone else thought he should be (Ep 4:14).
