v5 Rats were destroying (v1) Philistine territory (probably carrying some form of bacteria that contributed to the high spread of tumors) so they (v21) called for the priests & diviners to find out how to get The Ark of the LORD back into It's place. v3 The recommendation was to return The Ark of the God of Israel along with a guilt offering so that they may also be healed and learn why God's Hand hadn't been lifted up to that point. The guilt offering was formed out from (v4) 5 pieces of gold that had been shaped into tumors with 5 more pieces that were shaped into rats that subtly foreshadowed their need to get out from the condemnation of law=5+5=10 and into a double portion (2 five's) of God's Grace=5 to pay honor to Israel's God as the One Who Sanctifies (v5). {Gold symbolizes santification}
