Liquid Drip

v13 Eli thought she was drunk (v14) and said to her, "How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine."
v15 "Not so," Hannah replied, "I am a woman who is deeply troubled (because she couldn't get pregnant and was constantly made fun of). I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD." (v16) Do not take me for a wicked woman; I have been praying here...
But Peter... standing up... raised his voice and said, "...these are not drunk as you suppose, since it is only the 3rd hour of the day." {Acts 2:14-15(Even back then society held a standard of when its appropriate to drink and when its not.)} And what does society think hundreds of years later?
"When you saw this woman, we're you drunk?""God gave us alcohol as a social lubricant. Make men brave. Make woman loose."
...bartender or minister both seem to do a lot of counsel-listening... but wouldn't it be much better to have the "spirits" practice moderation and self-control (Gal 5:22-23).
Ham got cursed for mocking his drunk dad (Gn 9:22-25). Strong drink is given to him who is perishing and wine to those bitter of heart, to help forget about having a miserable life (Pro 31:6-7).
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and the unwise are led astray by it (Pro6:1). *Nothing like a mean drunk on your hands
It's not a sin to drink alcohol, it's a sin to lose self-control, to drop all your morals because alcohol "loosens" you up as it promotes the lust used to help break up families and relationships, or worse, kills someone while driving under the influence, that makes all the problems. To solve the problem would mean to take Bartender Apostle Paul's Spiritual Advice by doing everything in moderation so that freedom won't cause somebody else to stumble. If it's too hard to find the line of moderation then drinking probably isn't your main problem but something deeply rooted below the surface of your life, that is in need of love and healing.
If you're wanting one of those warm-cozy atmospheres to decorate your house using wine bottles, Jesus has a little new wine for you.

Very good article. I do agree with what you said. Self control is a part of walking in the Spirit and there is freedom there as long as we don't take advantage of what God has given to us. I love this freedom!
