Pat and i had been sitting in Pho Grand eating Vietnamese for dinner.  It's kind of funny because she's a 54yr old black girl, i'm a 39yr old white girl, and we're eating Asian food for dinner and don't even know how old they are?  It gave you this sudden kind of "cultured" feeling while all the age added up the experience in the room.

Pat and i talked many subjects, mostly Jesus stuff, and Pat also shared how that one day she was going to get her house painted... and i could see that it made her happy while the color themes toggled back and forth within her mind, but also knew that Pat didn't have the money ($3-3,500) for this and it would be a very long time before something like that could happen for her so while listening, wanting to make her feel completely happy, had said, "Let's go to Wal-Mart to look at the color charts, i'll buy you some paint and do it for you."

The money was there.  The talent was there.  Most the supplies were in the garage so why not make that smile stay there.  It would make me happy just making her happy.  Pat was humble and shy about it but i got her to agree, reassuring her that i really wanted to do it, offering to do the foyer, living room, and her kitchen.  Pat wasn't sure if this was the "right" thing to do and asked her sister about letting me do all this stuff for free, Pat did't know if this was "right?"  Just because you don't have money, doesn't mean you don't have integrity.  In my opinion Pat is a pure heart, and getting to know her and some of her stories i think that Pat has been giving to people for a long time, that she is just reaping some love for the love she has been sowing and is free from bad motives.

Being a planner meant quiet calculations were decided while sitting in the restaurant that day ready to spend about $200 on this project, plus invest the quality time until the project was completed.  When Walmart didn't have the paint-primer in stock,  Pat was told she would get Sherwin-Williams paint instead and that after finishing my last community life group the painting on her house would begin.

Sometimes you have to swear to your own hurt.  Mike and i went to the paint store to get the best paint for Miss Pat.  The bill almost doubled.  Ouch.  This hurt i told the LORD because i'm a planner and don't like change and please just let me process this because it hurts when only i wanted to spend $200.  Sure Miss Pat is worth every bit of the best paint but a plan is a plan and i hate it when it changes because it seems so responsible if you've already taken the time to think things through and think you know what you are doing then it doesn't work out that way.  Just give me a little processing time to accept the change and i'll get over it soon enough.  Because truly, i'm going with Jesus all the Way...

Zyiah is 2 yrs old, she would run into whatever room we were working in to declare to Pat, "Nana (grandma) i love you a whole bunch."  She did this several times everyday.  And Pat would say, "I love you a whole bunch too."
