v34 I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break.
*What your parents don't overcome, you get to.
Jephthah's mom may have been a prostitute but he sure had a lot of integrity. Somebody overcame something because his one and only daughter was still a virgin even though her grandmother accepted money for sex. Something should have been passed down but Jephthah must have been a pretty good Father too because once his daughter found out that the vow he had made would unknowingly include her, this meant that she would never get to marry once he kept it, yet she didn't even fight it, caring instead that he kept his word.
v36 "My Father, you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me just as you promised, now that the LORD has avenged you of your enemies..."
~She understood Covenant and loved her dad. Loved that her dad loved the LORD.
So sorry about this being my third time trying to send a comment. A screw-up on my part. Just wanted to say that this is refreshing to know. I was thinking not only for myself and Bryan, but also for my kids. WOW...I can't wait to see how much more they will overcome too.
