Blue  v25-27 Ch 6 Jud

v25 ...the LORD said to Gideon...tear down your Father's altar to Baal...and cut down the Asherah pole...(v27) but Gideon was afraid of his Family and the men of the town so he did it at night rather than in the daytime.

*Can see here room for growth in Gideon's life.  He is Saved but isn't Sanctified and is full of fear.

Gideon could obey but he couldn't do it apart from fear.  Fear is a spirit (2 Tim 1:7).  How could he obey God while at the same time experience this spirit?  The bad spirit is there but bad spirits don't produce good fruit so what spirit energized Gideon to be able to obey the LORD?  Well- Gideon was Saved but he wasn't Sanctified yet.  This is one of the differences between Salvation and Sanctification.

In Salvation level you can obey God but might not always enjoy it for feeling some battle in the mind but once you die to the fear and it is overcome then that battle leaves because Sanctification arrives with a level of Rest to where obedience in that very thing that was hard becomes enjoyable, even easy.
