Really Listening
Blue V9-16 Ch 4 Judv9 "Very well," Deborah said (to Barak), "I will go with you. But because of the way you are going about this, the honor will not be yours, for the LORD will hand Sisera over to a woman."
v14 Then Deborah said to Barak, "Go! This is the day the LORD has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the LORD gone ahead of you?"
~When the position, the title, the desired honor isn't there it doesn't mean that you don't belong to God...
But...
What Cha' Lookin' 4v16 But Barak pursued the chariots & army... All the troops of Sisera fell by the sword; not a man was left.
~Barak is noted the victory over defeating Sisera's troops but in taking down the commander Sisera himself no honor was given because God commanded through prophetess Dehorah what Barak was to do but Barak started putting conditions on obedience (v8).
Barak's if/then statement... "I will" or "I won't."
(v8)
When (v7) "The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you" Barak should simply say yes.
1 Jn 2:16 For all that's in the world...the pride of life... Jms 4:6 God resists the proud. When Barak took refuge in his insecurity it turned him proud. "I" He started telling God's messenger how he was going to do things and under what conditions he would or wouldn't do it- disregarding that obedience is not an option... this dishonored God so in the very thing Barak used to dishonor God in that very thing Barak received no honor.~Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty...
...Before honor is humility (Pro 18:12)

~What a man really desires is unfailing love so it comes naturally to want acceptance. It is ok to approve of one another but if ever having to chose between the praise from men over the praise from God, pick the praise (acceptance) that comes from God... then you'll have something to praise about in the end.
