St. Louis Backyard BBQ - Our House - Sunday, July 20, 2008
Mean: 89
Max Temperature: 99 degrees

Whew!....Wipe the sweat off.   People actually showed up .  So did God .

With 2 fans running, John BBQ'd Deer-, Ham-(burgers), Brats & Cheese Dogs, no matter that each fan couldn't compensate for all that heat.

Mike deep fried crappie that he caught from this pond in Kansas at his mom's house.  This is 1 of 20 or so ponds on their property.  Mike is raking out debris stirred haphazardly from a previous flooding.  If you do not like to fish because you never catch fish or because it takes too long, this is the dream pond.  One time Mike brought back 400 or so fish.  From boat you catch one fish after another & everyone in boat usually gives fish to him.  Even girls like this pond!  Exciting!  Only problem is when the fish is there squirming on your hook begging for mercy to stop hurting him it makes you feel so cruel so cannot do this part...  If you leave it to me to be the hunter then we're going to be vegetarians.  BBQ scheduled from 2-5pm lasted til about 7pm.  Thank You Jesus.

Left to Right:  Jim, John, Mike

Jim came with John who currently works for us.  He is very nice man, very helpful.  Polite and thoughtful.  While getting to know Jim he told me that he has 4 children.  16, twins-12yrs old,  youngest is 7.  He is separated from them.  See, Both Jim and John spent time in prison so in asking Jim what did he do he said, "Stealing."  He lost his family and marriage.  He writes to the kids and sometimes they answer back.  He is honest and broken all at the same time.  Right now he is in St. Mary's Halfway House - State Operated Correctional Institution where he must have a pass for example, to visit my house for the Bar-Be-Que.  We shared stories and told Jim about my sister Gabrielle and explained how the love people seek inside themselves, that if it's not given will resort to even negative attention to get it.  Jim is trying to process the mistakes he made and what it cost him to make those mistakes, to face those mistakes.  To face that what you lost you might never get back?  He said it is hard.  Yes.  And sometimes we must believe in hope against hope.  One time, i said, we were ministering in a park and the guy there who invited us to come said what i'll never forget, "These people's sins are more obvious whereas we are better at hiding ours."  This is true.  With Jim i pointed out that the difference between him and me is that he got caught and our society commonly agrees on how to punish black and white issues like stealing but now take an emotional issue, how do prove there is damage?  How do we punish it?  We cannot see it.  Jim cares about his family and showed me picture from his wallet of one of his children... "I hang on to that."  Is what he said.  Told Jim that both Pat and me were restored to our dads later in their lives... cause kids want their dads, they may want to punish you but it's not really you cause they want you but they want to hurt you for leaving them so even if they act like a jerk it's not because they really want to act like that, they want you.  He agreed when i asked if we could pray for him.  Jim told me he grew up catholic and Terry (Pat's sister) asked him if he'd ever received Jesus Christ into his life and yes Jim had.  Pat (you remember my neighbor), her sister Terry, me and jim stood in a circle holding hands believing God to heal him, to show him his future, show him a vision, restore him to his family.  We all hugged which was very nice.

Then Terry, who said she is an evangelist, also prayed with James our neighbor that God would begin to deal with him, the mindset, and break (alcohol) the addiction from off of his life.  James lives a few houses down, both He and Mike worked on a roof job together last month.  The next person we held hands with and prayed for was my neighbor Michelle who lives directly across the street whom some of you have meet at church, her son Stephen (9) & daughter Alexis (11).  Michelle stood repeating the prayer to have Jesus Christ come back into her life while Terry prayed that she come back to God- which is neat because Terry didn't know that Michelle grew up exposed to Christianity.  Once the LORD God moves there are some things that He just let's you know without having to process it through "time & observation" or the "experiential knowledge" of getting to know the person.  It is supernatural knowledge that is provided by God's Spirit inside of you that becomes instantaneous.

Left to Right:  Terry, Michelle, Mikie, James

Mikie asked for prayer too.  He is Michelle's youngest boy, 5yrs old.  Earlier in joking with Mikie after asking what is his middle name, told him that his new nickname would be MJ (Michael James) but he giggled and didn't want it because he loves to be called Mikie.  So Mikie gave me both his hands and we prayed... "Come into my heart Jesus.   Let me always live for you and belong only to You.  Please help me Holy Spirit.  Please forgive all my sins (we are born in sin, we do not need a long list).  Please keep me and in the future help me to always live for You.  Thank You Jesus.  Thank You Holy Spirit. I Love You.  In Jesus Name, Amen."

Learned more stories too when Michelle's Husband Micheal told me about his dad who had died from a broken neck in a motorcycle accident when he was 8yrs old.  They shared a very good, strong-bond relationship.  And you remember Pat (left- 1st person in picture), she stayed to wash up all the dishes.  Very sweet because she has been diagnosed with MS and many times her legs ache.  But this is what Pat believes, if God heals her fine if not fine, she's serving God.  We laughed comparing it to Shadrach, Meshach, Abendago.

After all this me and Pat walked over to her house where inside she shared every room with me.  In "The Green Room" there was a rectangular green paper tacked up against the wall, filled with several family photos (+14 grandchildren), that Pat prays for desiring that all be, that all remain to be the Children of God.  It was beautiful...  This is a woman whose Godmother drives a Jaquar, whose sister owns a Lexus, yet she herself has not one car, but what she does have, this will not be taken from her because what Pat has is a lot of LOVE.
