Geyser

Blue Geyser  v16-18 Ch 21 Num

v16
From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the LORD said to Moses, "Gather the people together and I will give them water."

v17 Once God gave Israel a God Geyser drink they started singin' songs (like a drunk man...?)

                     Spring Up O well!
not because of being drunk with wine, but for being filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in heart to the Lord (Ep 5:18-19).

v18
...they were singing about the well that princes dug & that nobles sank- about the nobles with their scepters & staffs...   (because these items determined what blessing was at work in their life)

...continue on to Beer!   Don't think they were drinking Beer since it was the name of the town, but to drink the beer or not to drink the beer is inappropriate only when it is misused.  Back in Tulsa before listening to Christ, we used to go dancing at the Caravan where you could be under drinking age to get in by having one hand stamped although the 21+yr olds drank there freely.  This particular time a guy grabbed me as we were leaving and as i felt him grab my arm fierce anger rose up as i swung around with the most rebuking forceful tone-  "DON'T TOUCH ME!"  The surrounding people stopped dead in dead silence inspite of the overall loud music.  I walked away.  This is what i'm talking about though.  Do you think that guy would have put his hand on me in a sobering condition?  Self-control helps in keeping actions appropriate.  Too much alcohol has a way of giving pseudo-courage, if that's what you want to call it.  Courage for what exactly?  Too much drink preverts justice and is recommended for those who are perishing (Pro 31:4-7).

In cultures like Germany, many of them social drink.  Once while visiting we went to the 100 acre farm where my mom grew up.  They offered an afternoon shot glass of hard liquor.  You can say no but you don't sit there and drink one after another even if you do accept because that would be rude.  The focus wasn't drinking to get drunk so as to get something excitingly sinful to happen, the focus was to be social and mom said even with the small shot glass it was to be sipped on.

Timothy drank a little wine to help his stomach because of the physical problem he had (1 Tim 5:23).  So is drinking wrong?  I don't think so, it's more the case of what are you drinking for?  If an appropriate reason can be there than it seems ok.  And we should receive everything with Thanksgiving (1 Tim 4:3).
