Jealousy
Blue Ch 11 Numv15 Moses was worn out with these people and he would rather be dead then put up with more of this. He doesn't want to fail but it's just not working while trying to lead these people. v2 He's doing a good job but (v10) someone is always upset or complaining & something is always going wrong, it was exhausting. v16 Father said to get 70 experienced leaders together and He would (v25) take of the Spirit on Moses and put it on these leaders so they could help Moses lead.
Interesting how Moses doesn't think he can bear the burden yet God went to Moses' gifting to share what Moses had so that these leaders could do the same thing. Interesting how we don't see ourselves correctly when we are overwhelmed by problems.
v28 Joshua, Moses right hand man, had been serving under Moses since he was a kid but suddenly he gets jealous because he sees these 70 guys doing what he probably thought he should have been handed on a platter, especially since he had been faithfully serving since his youth. So Moses calls him on the carpet (v29), "Are you jealous for my sake?" Well no, he wasn't.
Sometimes we feel threatened when someone else can take our position but Joshua never needed to feel like this because whatever you were created to do and be, this is your place, it's designed for you alone. God doesn't fail to give us our place to operate in who we are or what we have to give. Our positioning in Christ is a very secure position so it doesn't matter what everybody else is doing, even if it looks just like what we are doing. It doesn't matter how well it's being done or if it's being done better. Trusting Christ means being whole and knowing that there is enough to go around while realizing that what you have is absolutely good enough without comparison. There will always be people doing worse and better than yourself so accepting this is freeing, remaining at peace with it is humility because you won't get jealous by how well or poor you think someone else is doing because you will be trusting, knowing people are allowed to operate in who they are. Joshua fulfilled the plan for his life, he entered the promiseland, he received his inheritance, a family, etc. This former jealousy which made him insecure was an illusion, a negative emotion, that was completely unnecessary and irrelevant to his life. Joshua got his place to operate!
