5Fold Ministry - Apostolic Government

Blue    Ex Ch 29

v29 Aaron's sacred garments will belong to his descendants so that they can be anointed and ordained in them. v44 So I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar and will consecrate (set apart) Aaron and his sons to serve Me as priests.

Five Fold = Apostolic Government

apostles
-       A messenger, delegate, sent forth with a message, commissioned for particular task
or role.  In New Testament, word denotes both original 12 disciples and prominent
leaders outside the 12.  Marvin Vincent records three features of an apostle:

                      1.  experience the Resurrected Christ visibly
                      2.  plant churches
                      3.  functions in ministry with signs, wonders, and miracles

An Administrative Leader, Leader Traits.
Three basic types of administrative leadership:
                      1.  Servant-Leader: (deacon) Greek diakonia means "service or ministry"
                           (2 Cor 8:19-20, 9:1, 12)
                      2.  Steward Leader or Manager: Greek oikonomos or oikonomis means "steward,"
such as today's pastor.  The word literally means "household manager,"
a slot often held by a slave in the 1st century.  It refers to those who "manage"
                           the church (1 Cor 4:1, 2:2, 2 Tim 1:7).
                      3.  The Steersman Leader or Overseer is found in the office of apostle or bishop.
Kybernesis is a Greek term borrowed from seafaring, and is used to designate
the steersman or pilot who holds the ship on course.  The word is rendered
"governments" (1 Cor 12:28) where Paul speaks of the spiritual gift of
                           administration. (Lk 3:1-20, Isa 6:8-9)

prophets -       From pro, "forth," and phemi, "to speak."  A prophet, therefore is primarily
a forth-teller, one who speaks forth a divine message that at times include
foretelling future events.  Among the Greeks, the prophet was the interpreter
of the divine will, and this idea is dominant in biblical usage.  Prophets are
therefore specially endowed with insights into the counsels of the Lord and
serve as His spokesmen.  Prophecy is a gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:12)
which the New Testament encourages believers to exercise, although at a
level different from those with the prophetic office (Eph 4:11).  Acts 13:1,
Barnabas and Saul already were prophets and teachers when the Lord
wanted them to be set apart to do the work for which He called them.

prophecies,  from pro, "forth," and phemi, "to speak."  The primary use of the
G#4394        word is not predictive, in the sense of foretelling, but interpretive,
declaring, or forth-telling, the will and counsel of God.

evangelists -       Preach the gospel to every creature.  Make disciples of all nations.  Preach,
repentance and remission of sins.  Mt 28:19, Mk 16:15.

pastors -       Same definition as apostles.

teachers -       To impart knowledge by lessons; give instruction to.  Communicate the knowledge
of.  To train by practice or exercise.  To impart knowledge or skill.  Teach
embraces all methods of imparting knowledge, information, guidance, or counsel.
To instruct is to give specific directions about a subject.  Educate means to
instruct in a school or college.  Both school and discipline refer to the teaching
of certain patterns of behavior; they both connote authority.  Train suggests the
fitting of a person for a particular work.

Ephesians 4:11-12
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors
and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body
of Christ.

Generally what you will see is the Minister flip in and out of each of these offices because the 5
offices are a Headship Gift from Christ Himself.  The Government sits on His shoulders (Isa 9:6-7).
Your Pastor is used by Father God to build His church, speak forth God's Divine Counsel, point lost
souls to the Salvation of Jesus Christ, steer the congregation in the way it should go, and teach us
principles in His Word... so they flip in and out of each of the 5 offices yet are usually strong and
are known for operating in 1 or 2.  And the congregation does the same but the authority level is
different because Father keeps the Order of Authority in place... this is when, on the peer level, we
can't solve something, then spiritual authority appointed to watch over our soul (Heb 13:17),
steps in to settle issues as did Moses for the Israelites. Moses did have helpers for this when the
group got to be too large (Ex 18:19-26).  As far as being equals, yes indeed, according to the
creation account, we are indeed equals (Gen 1:27), we have equal sacrifice (Ro 14:12), yet we
have differing responsibilities (Ep 4:11, 1 Cor 12:28-31).
